The Venue

This show is being held in an historic, mid-century modern Eichler home currently under restoration. The home, built in 1964, is one of only 330 homes that Eichler built in Orange, California. Developer Joseph Eichler had a history of selecting well known architects to design his projects. For this home he hired the architectural firm of Claude Oakland, one of several architects that designed the homes in this area.

Joseph Eichler began working with prominent architects to develop his concepts for modern homes in the late 1940’s and produced over 11,000 residences during his career that lasted for over thirty years. The firms of A. Quincy Jones, Fredrick Emmons, Claude Oakland and Anshen and Allen were enlisted by Eichler to refine concepts and helped establish designs that recalled classic spaces similar to those of traditional Chinese and Japanese architecture.
